Govt withdraws the parallel program following lenders’ reaction

The decision was taken during a meeting held between Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Vice President Giannis Dragasakis and other ministers

The Greek government withdrew the draft including the parallel program following the reaction of Greece’s lenders who even threatened to freeze the disbursement of the 1bln installment.

This decision was taken while Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is being in Brussels participating in the EU Summit. According to information, the decision on withdrawing the parallel program was taken during a meeting which was held between Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Vice President Giannis Dragasakis and other ministers.

Reportedly, the government will submit it again after Christmas holiday and prior consultation with the lenders. A government official told www.protothema.gr that the main cause of lenders’ reaction was that fact that the bill for the parallel program did not included cost evaluation.
