Greek Parliament approves article on LGBTQ rights

SYRIZA and MeRA25 voted present

The Greek parliament approved by the majority an amendment of the Ministry of Health concerning the criminal and administrative sanctions to professionals who promote or apply practices of conversion of sexual orientation or gender identity to minors.

The amendment was backed by ND and KINAL, with SYRIZA, KKE, and MERA 25 being “present”, while the Hellenic Solution voted against it.

This amendment, introduced in the context of the bill for the “Personal Doctor”, institutionalises the prohibition of the method of conversion, that is, any attempt that is considered to try to change the sexual orientation, identity, and gender expression of an LGBT person.
