Greek Supreme Court rules for extradition to US of Russian cybercriminal

Alexander Vinnik allegedly laundered billions of dollars via bitcoin

The Supreme Civil and Criminal Court of Greece (Areios Pagos) ruled on Wednesday in favour of the extradition to the United States of the Russian cybercrime suspect, Alexander Vinnik. The Russian was allegedly laundering billions of dollars using the virtual currency bitcoin.
Alexander Vinnik made his final appearance at an Athens court Wednesday amid an ongoing legal battle between the U.S. and Russia, who are both seeking his extradition.
Greece’s justice minister will ultimately decide on whether Vinnik will be sent to Russia or the U.S.
