Bouncer loses control outside Mykonos nightclub

Vangelis Peppos, aged 31, is fighting for his life after he was beaten by a security officer outside a club on the party isle of Mykonos. The young bouncer, aged 25, gave himself up.

Peppos sustained head injuries as a result of the beating and is now in a coma at Thriasio hospital. Doctors believe that the next 24 hours are crucial for the young man.

The tragic incident occured at 11.30 p.m. on Sunday when the Cypriot victim and his wife headed to the nightclub. Sources state that Peppos was embroiled in a squabble with a young Brit before the bouncer got involved. The bouncer dissappeared after he beat Peppas, leaving him in a pool of blood.

The bouncer, a champion boxer of international acclaim, was questioned by the police before being released.

The incident has rekindled memories of the death of Australian tourist Doujon Zammit who was bashed to death by a Mykonos bouncer in 2008.

WIFE’S TESTIMONY

KLEANTHOS

“There were many of us. I was unable to see anything. All I know from the people and customers is that Vangelis did not lift his hand against anyone. I don’t know how the fight got started, says Mrs. Kleanthos when speaking to Proto Thema. She states that she was told that somone made fun of his accent. “They rendered him immobile and lifted him and threw him headfirst!”

She states that they would not let him go back to the club to get his wife. A friend went to get her. “Before the friend could return, Vangelis was on the ground in a pool of blood. He was gone for two minutes and they destroyed him,” she says.

The ambulence arrived after a 45-minute delay.
