PASOK leader Venizelos: Repeat elections disastrous for Greece

The PASOK leader stressed that PASOK isn’t interested in playing the role of a wild card party

In an interview with the private Alpha TV station late Tuesday, PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos underlined that repeat elections would be a disaster for Greece, as they would lead the country into a new political ordeal.

Venizelos, who serves as Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of the ruling coalition government, noted that February will be an extremely critical month for Greece and therefore the election process needs to be completed fast, so that the next government can continue the negotiations with the troika of the country’s lenders.

The PASOK leader stressed that his party isn’t interested in playing the role of a wild card, nor does it care about participating in a coalition government, “it only cares about national strategy”.

Asked his opinion about main opposition leftist SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, Venizelos said Tsipras obviously has many skills, “but this is not enough to assume the difficult role of premier in an extremely complex Europe.”
