Police arrests one man in beating of New Democracy MP

In his statement, though, he claimed he was leading the MP to safety and didn’t assault him

Greek police has arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to the attack against New Democracy MP Giorgos Koumoutsakos which took place on Thursday evening the protest of Pontian Association of Greece in Syntagma to protest against statements made by Education Minister Nikos Filis.

The man under custody was among a group of people who attacked Koumoutsakos, throwing bottles of water against him and hitting him.

In his statement, though, he claimed he was leading the MP to safety and didn’t assault him, but authorities have detained him over the case.

According to police sources, all suspects have been identified and at least two of them are members of Golden Dawn.
