Prosecutor presses charges against Sect of Revolutionaries

Counter-terror police has sent four case files and all the evidence collected to the prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki.

Prosecution on Wednesday pressed criminal charges against unknown members of the terrorist group “Sect of Revolutionaries” which has assumed the responsibility for the assassination of journalist Sokratis Giolias in 2010 and an anti-terrorist police officer in 2009.

Counter-terror police has sent four case files and all the evidence collected in relation to the criminal action of the terrorist group to the prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki.

Ms. Touloupaki studied the four case files and pressed criminal charges ranging from forming a criminal organization and serial homicide to construction of explosive devices, weapon possession and grand theft.

The group first became known in February 2009 with a threat to kill Greek police officers at the Police-station in Korydallos.

There was also a shooting on 17 February 2009 at the headquarters of Alter TV linked to the Sect of Revolutionaries, which caused no injuries.
