Ryanair passenger scalded on genitals by boiling tea wins payout

He claimed that his social, domestic and recreational lifestyle had been “interfered with” following the incident

A 33-year-old Ryanair passenger has settled a €38,000 damages claim against the airline after claiming his genitals were scorched when a boiling cup of tea was spilled over his crotch.

Ronald Furlong, from Wexford, claimed the incident happened during a London to Dublin flight in August 2012, as Irish Times reports.

He claimed that the boiling tea spilled on and burned his abdomen, genital area, thighs and groin when a flight attendanttransferred the cup to another passenger, as Irish Times reports.

The 33-year-old suffered immediate pain and forced to remove his trousers in the aisle in front of other and sit on an emergency seat with a dressing applied to his injuries.

Mr Furlong claimed the airline had failed to ensure its staff would properly transfer hot liquid with a secure lid and that his social, domestic and recreational lifestyle had been “interfered with” following the incident.
