SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras meets with uniformed staff representatives

SYRIZA leader said that what the government is attempting to do can only be characterized as the elimination of the social insurance.

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras met on Wednesday with representatives from the uniformed forces personnel.

Regarding Article 221, Mr. Tsipras underlined that it should be withdrawn. More specifically, he said that “not only is it against the social security system itself, it is also deeply antidemocratic and includes antidemocratic provisions. This article annuls many social insurance rights and limits the options for the insured.”

SYRIZA leader added that what the government is attempting to do can only be characterized as the elimination of the social insurance. He also accused the prime minister of being the moral and physical instigator of the plunder of the funds and the uniformed personnel’s lump sum benefits.

“With its policy, the government imposes the privatization of supplementary pensions and lump sum benefits, in order to make another special favor to the private capital,” underlined Mr. Tsipas.
