The Cypriot Naval Command officially took delivery of OPV “Alasia”

It is a gift from the Sultan of Oman

 

On February 14th 2017 the Cypriot Naval Command took delivery of the Offshore Patrol Vessel “Alasia” at the port of Larnaka. The vessel is agift from the Sultan of Oman to Cyprus as a tiken of the good relations between the two countries.
The vessel will be used to patrol the Cypriot waters inside the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The vessel “AL SALAM” was used as a patrol vessel by Oman as well and it served for a period as the Sultan’s yiot.
“Alasia” is the ancient Greek name for Cyprus.
