Tsipras comment to French PM Valls at press conference misses mark

Amid harsh criticism by French media against PM, Tsipras thanks him for not postponing his visit to Greece

Amid a barrage of scorching criticism by the French media against PM Manuel Valls over his decision to not postpone his official visit to Greece despite the Paris floods, constant strikes across France over the unpopular labour law, and threats by Air France to go on strike a week before the start of the Euro 2016 football tournament, an awkward moment during his joint press conference with Greek PM Alexis Tsipras certainly did not help. Following the two men’s meeting, Tsipras said during the press conference that he thanked his French counterpart, even though as he said information had been released that height of the River Seine had reached 6 meters above ground level. ‘As you understand it is a difficult moment for Manuel and he chose not to postpone his visit here’, said Tsipras.
