Turkish PM takes detour to wish officers at Greek outpost a Merry Christmas

The surprise visit was held in a cordial atmosphere and wishes of health and prosperity were exchanged

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu made an unscheduled visit on Wednesday to the customs station and military outpost in Kastanies, northeast Greece. The initiative was taken by Mr. Davutoglu on his way to a scheduled visit to the Turkish city of Edirne, near the border with Greece, when the prime minister decided to take a detour through the Greek outpost, located at the Greek borders with Turkey, just to wish the Greek officers a Merry Christmas.

“Am I in Greece or Turkey?” asked Mr. Davutoglu, concluding that he was somewhere in between.

His visit lasted a few minutes. He met with the police director and the military commander in Orestiada. they exchanged presents and wished each other health and peace. The meeting was in a cordial atmosphere and was filmed by Turkish television crews.
