UEFA: PAOK goal was righlty disallowed

Video of PAOK goal examined by specialists in Brussels

UEFA officials weighed in on the disputed goal scored by PAOK Thessaloniki in the dying stages of the match against AEK Athens last Sunday, saying the referee was right to have disallowed it, as the player in front of the AEK goalkeeper obstructed his view. The video of the controversial goal, which sparked a series of events -including the invasion on the pitch of PAOK president Ivan Savvidis with a gun on his waist to protest the referee’s decision to disallow it- could lead to the expulsion of Greek football clubs, and even the national team from international competitions after the Greek government decided to suspend the Greek football league. The footage was examined by a delegation of UEFA specialists in Brussels who said that the goal was rightly not awarded.
