White House: Greece on the agenda of Obama’s meeting with Merkel

The meeting between the two leaders will focus mainly on the crisis in Ukraine.

According to the statements made by White House spokesman Josh Earnest on Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama is in “close contact” with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on a number of issues, including Greece.

Earnest announced that President Obama will meet Merkel on Monday, during the German Chancellor’s official visit to Washington and noted that the meeting between the two leaders will focus mainly on the crisis in Ukraine.

The White House spokesman also referred to the upcoming visit of U.S. Vice-President Jo Biden to Brussels and Munich, where he’ll meet with European leaders to discuss possible ways of “improving the security and economic assistance towards Ukraine” and the adoption of stricter sanctions against Russia.
