2bln tranche not to be disbursed, Greece has not implemented all prior actions, says Berlin

No final agreement with Greece on the implementation of the first package of prior actions is expected on Monday's Eurogroup, EU sources said

Newsroom November 9 03:08

“The 2 billion euro tranche cannot be disbursed because Greece has not implemented all prior actions,” deputy spokeswoman for the German Finance Ministry Friederike von Tiesenhausen said on Monday.

However, she denied responding to a question regarding the outcome of the Eurogroup meeting. “The Eurogroup meeting is held in Brussels and not here,” she stressed.

Moreover, reliable sources claimed that no final agreement with Greece on the implementation of the first package of prior actions is expected on Monday’s Eurogroup.

However, the same sources said that 90% of the gap between Greek authorities and institutions has been covered and an agreement is possible to be reached within the next days. Therefore, the Eurogroup is not expected to decide on the disbursement of the 2 billion euro tranche today, but it is expected to recognise the significant progress made regarding the implementation of the reforms.
