The Greek Prime Minister following his meeting with NATO SG Jens Stoltenberg stated that ” “Our home country is coming out from a long crisis and is an island of safety in a critical moment for the broader region”. During his statements Mr. Antonis Samaras stressed that Greece despite its fiscal squeeze, is one of the four members of NATO that spents over 2% of its GDP on defense spending.
Furthermore, during the meeting Mr. Samaras and NATO SG among other discussed the developments in Afghanistan and Syria, the crisis in Ukraine as well as the dangers of terrorist spreading and Jihadists. Mr. Jens Stoltenberg thanked Greece for its contribution to NATO and highlighted the fact that our country supports actions of the Alliance in Afghanistan and is a staunch supporter of the Alliance in general. Further he stressed that NATO guarantees the security of Greece.
