7 out of 10 Greeks want separation of Church and State

Greeks are less religious than they used to be shows study

A survey conducted by Kapa Research for Sunday’s weekly newspaper, Vima, stated that more than seven out of ten Greeks are in favor of the separation of the church and the state.

Specifically, the survey showed that 74.5% were in favor of a separation and 19.77% disagreed.

63.9% of those questioned stated that they were not satisfied with the work of the Church. 47% believe that the role of the church has weakened and 78.4% believe that clerics should be paid their salaries from the church and not from the public sector.

73% of those questioned were in favor of cremation after their death, a practice that the church continues to reject.
