80 earthquakes shake Chianti

The famous region's inhabitants preferred to spend their time on the street

A disruption has been caused by successive earthquakes shaking Italy and especially Tuscany. In just 24 hours, in fact, there have been 80 earthquakes in the famous Chianti region, known for its rich wine varieties.

As mentioned by Italian press reports, the largest vibration had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale. The seismic activity caused evacuations in schools in Empoli and Sienna, while there are many people who preferred to spend the day on the street rather than indoors.

From the 80 tremors, the strongest was 4.1 on the Richter scale and occurred at 11.36 local time.

The epicenter is calculated between the regions of Chianti and San Cassano in Florence, and the focal depth was 71 km.

At the same time, according to a seismologist of the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, it is impossible to predict the duration of the seismic activity.
