A village with no Internet access turned into a social media place (pics)

The Italian artist turned a bench into a Twitter chair

Newsroom May 7 01:10

An art project conducted in a remote village in Italy in central Italy Province with no Internet access has shown how digital innovations like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and eBay have actually existed for generations in the real world rather than online.

The creator, Italian artist Biancoshock, has turned a bench into a Twitter chair, whereas the village storyteller and expert on local history has had a Wikipedia sign posted up outside her home.

The chairs facing a television set in the local bar have been marked with YouTube logos, and the town noticeboard has now been given a Facebook makeover.

With only 400 mostly elderly people, Civitacampomarano, is so remote that few are able to get online and mobile phones suffer from poor reception.

As the artist said, the aim was to convince people not to forget the roots of modern day technologies in everyday life, as Daily Mail reports.
