ANEL MP: Government leaked wikileaks IMF dialogue between Thomsen-Velculescu! (video)

A slip of the tongue, or is it the truth?

Newsroom May 5 05:54

An extract from a speech by ANEL MP Thanasis Papachristopoulos in Greek parliament, Thursday, could give a new twist to the controversial leaked wikileaks conversation between IMF officials Delia Velculescu and the fund’s head in Europe, Poul Thomsen, on the Greek matter. ‘What else can the government do when it made the Velculescu-Thomsen conversation public. It is battling the IMF in every way possible. How could it have done anything else?’, said Papachristopoulos, referring to the leaked dialogue between the two IMF officials that caused an uproar while the talks between Greece and its creditors were ongoing. The leaked conversation was made public by whistleblower sire wikileaks a few week ago, revealing the negotiating tactics of the fund that purportedly wanted to push Greece to the brink of default to push harsher measures on the Greek government. The IMF had implied the confidential conversation was leaked by the Greek authorities, charges the government has denied. Whether a slip of the tongue or an outright admission that the conversation was recorded, the speech certainly raises some serious questions.
