It’s no surprise that Greece is among the favorite spot of international nudists with Greece, France and Croatia being the top destinations for those who love the seawater to touch them all over without restriction. Naturists saw the potential of Greek beaches since the famous hippie days at Matala, Crete. Here are the top 10 Greek nudist beaches around Greece today:
Little Banana Beach, Skiathos
Bus 26 will get you there, just follow the signs marked Nudist Club Greece. The hike takes 10 minutes. Walk through Big Banana where you’ll find crowds – with swimming costumes – but a walk round the rocks will take you to a naked paradise!
Red Beach, Matala, Crete
The picturesque secluded beach is just 20 minutes away from Matala. On the way, you pass more caves, until you get to the beach with dark reddish brown sand and crystal-clear water. It is a quiet intimate beach, only 300m long, but well worth visiting. There are two routes to the beach, either a steep climb and sharp descent or driving along a dirt track to a sign marked Marinero bar up a path over the cliff.
Super Paradise, Mykonos
Like Paradise, Super Paradise is a party beach – large and sandy with six rows of umbrellas and sun beds. Party animals dance and sing in nudie gaiety to the left of the beach, expect to see local celebrities. Tourists usually sit in the middle. Located at the southern bay of Mykonos, nudists can go by car or boat from Platis Yialos.
Camping Antiparos
Take the KTEL bus from the port of Paros to Pounta beach and then travel to the adjacent island, more secluded than Paros and filled with nudist offerings. Not only is nudism allowed at this camping site – it is prefered.
Faliraki, Rhodes
Faliraki nudist beach is the only organized nudist beach on the island. Located at the edge of Faliraki resort, it is also known to locals as Mantomata, and has the necessary comforts that its clotheless visitors need.
Gypsy Afiarti, Carpathos
Dubbed the nudist beach of Karpathos, the beach is quiet and free from any form of commercialism. It was officially declared a nudist beach by the Afiarti Development Association in the hope that this would help promote the Ionian island.
Kedros and Livadi, Donousa
Kedros is the largest beach of the island with aqua sea water and the nudist set. A German shipwreck from WWII is just a twenty-minute walk away. A part of its hull still stands out on the bottom. A small bar two minutes far away from the beach, provides you with drinks to quench your thirst on a hot day.
Livadi is a large light-coloured beach with azure water. Accessible by boat or a drive up to Mersini following the path. It is a 15-minute trip.
Velanio, Skopelos
Walk across Stafylos and follow the pathway on the hill until you get to Velanio, the only naturalist beach of Skopelos. A wonderful cave on the right side of the beach is where baths were in Roman Years and were the beach gets its name from. Free-grazing goats come down to the beach after sunset to drink water from the sea.
Hiliadou, Evia
One of the most well-known nudist beaches of Greece. Located at the eastern side of the island, about 1 1/2 hours away from Halkida, the capital of Evia island. Once a lair for pirates, the beach is known for its clear waters, clean sand … and crowds!
Myrtiotissa, Corfu
Once a well-kept secret, Myrtiotissa isn’t much of a secret anymore, but it has lost none of its beauty. It is perhaps the only beach on the island of Corfu were nudism is officially tolerated. Between the villages of Pelekas and Vatos, come here to find tranquility and total freedom.
