Chinese shipowners outstrip Greeks for August shipbuilding orders

Chinese ship owners surpassed their Greek counterparts in shipbuilding for the month of August, according to data by Ship-Broking company Golden Destiny. The data showed that Greek ship owners had signed contracts for the building of 4 vessels in August worth 48 million dollars, 17 fewer in comparison to July or an 81% drop. The ships contracted were two cargo ships and two transport containers ships. The Chinese in comparison signed contracts to build 17 ships in August compared to 15 in July worth 274 million euros.
