Dijsselbloem: No further talks on Greece (until after referendum)

Eurogroup head refers to 'political situation, rejection of previous proposals, referendum and 'no' position of Tsipras govt

Newsroom July 1 11:04

Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem essentially echoed most European leaders on Wednesday by saying that no further talks on Greece will continue until after a referendum on Sunday in the “capital controlled” country.

He spokes after the conclusion of a eurozone teleconference, which a day earlier appeared to offer a glimmer of hope that some compromise would be achieved to preclude the plebiscite..

Dijsselbloem cited “the political situation, the rejection of the previous proposals, the referendum, which will take place on Sunday, and the ‘no’ advice of the Greek government.”

“We simply wait the outcome of the referendum on Sunday and taking into account the outcome of the referendum,” he stressed.

Moreover, Dijsselbloem said he feels sorry over the situation in Greece, given the Greek people’s strong determination to be a part of the Europe and the eurozone.
