Five hundred and sixty two years have passed since the Fall of Constantinople and the dramatic events that followed, leading to the end of the Byzantine empire and the rapid rise of the Ottoman domain. All this and more will be depicted in a documentary to be shown by at the Hellenic-American Union on Friday.
The documentary includes rare documents, historical accounts and impressive imagery from modern-day Istanbul, which was known as Constantinople until the 1920s.
The documentary will be shown on the anniversary of the city’s conquest, on Friday, May 29, at the Hellenic American Union’s amphitheatre (Massalias 22, Kolonaki).
