The draft on the results of the Council summit which will be held on Thursday and Friday will include strict recommendations to Greece, as Kathimerini newspaper reports.
The draft document mentions that the program is insufficient and should be accelerated and in order to preserve the Schengen area, it is necessary to re-establish control of external borders.
More specifically, member states should have made progress until the next summit, which will be held in February, on specific issues, including: addressing the gaps at the external border of Schengen area, using mainly systematic security checks, addressing deficiencies in the functioning of hotspots, systematic registration and fingerprinting, implementation of relocation decisions, ensuring the effective return of people not allowed to stay and supporting member states in respect of repatriation operations, strengthening measures to combat human trafficking and implementation of the agreed resettlement program.
