Greek FM Nikos Kotzias received the Chinese ambassador in Athens Xiaoli Zou on Monday.
According to the standard fare foreign ministry press release, the two men discussed a wide range of issues and prospects of development in the economic, political and cultural fields.
What the press release didn’t mention is if the ultra sensitive issue of Chinese investments in Greece was discussed. One of leftist SYRIZA’s first missives after the election was to promise to kill a tender for the privatization of the port of Piraeus and to “re-evaluate, for the benefit of the people”, Chinese multinational Cosco’s concession at the Piraeus container port.
Following the 50-minute long meeting the Chinese envoy invited Kotzias to China.
Te Greek minister accepted the invitation, with the date soon to be set.
