Newsroom October 20 08:46

The French media is in turmoil over the Greek police woman that has been stationed to be French President Francois Hollande’s shadow during his visit to Athens on Thursday. The young cop Evrydiki Soulioti has been characterised as an Amazon who speaks French and is specially trained in protecting high-ranking visiting officials.

Le Figaro’s article, titled “Hollande gets ‘suitable’ protection in Athens”, is dedicated to the beautiful blonde. The reportage is favorable to Alexis Tsipras’ choice of protection for his guest. The article caused a storm in France with accusations that the article was sexist, and the French president himself has appeared annoyed by the coverage. The outrage prompted an apology to its readers and the Greek police woman. Soon afterwards, Greek Parliament sources denied that the Greek woman would guard the French President on his visit to Greece.
