German Chancellor Angela Merkel is reportedly awaiting the Greek government’s proposals, underlining that she does not want to comment on the particulars of statements taken out of context.
After she held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore, she was asked about Greece.
Merkel proceeded to say that the Greek government is still going over plans for the national debt issue, whereas she avoided to comment on the Greek FinMin’s new statements, namely, that Alexis Tsipras does not want a debt haircut, but rather, a “debt exchange”.
Merkel’s statements were made two days before a meeting between Greek FinMin Yanis Varoufakis and Wolfgang Schaeuble.
