Mt. Athos area organization invites tourists to get married

Proposed wedding and honeymoon destinations in Chalkidiki

Visits to the “near” Mount Athos area may soon be boosted by … nuptial tourism!

A recent even in Beirut, Lebanon, entitled “Wedding Folies”, appeals to the Orthodox Christians in the Middle East country, and invites them to get married and spend their honeymoon in Greece.

The exhibition took place at the BIEL centre.

The Athos Tourism Organization co-hosted a stand at the pavilion to present “Your Wedding in Greece”, promoting the idea through a luxurious edition as well as pamphlets in French and Arabic.

Although Mount Athos is well-known as an all-male semi-autonomous community of Orthodox monasteries located on one of three jutting promontories in the northern Greece prefecture of Halkidiki, several resorts and facilities cater to the faithful just outside the boundaries of the entity.
