Gov’t admits that some EU countries want to close borders

It stresses that EU countries are not implementing Europe’s policy on the refugee crisis

Newsroom February 5 09:03

It is the first time that the Geek government admits that several countries of European Union want to close their borders referring to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic and stating that they are not implementing Europe’s policy on the refugee crisis.

A government source expressed its intense concern about the tendency of some Central European countries to follow a completely different direction from the official EU policy, while described the pressures put on Greece as “unacceptable”.

The same source also noted that despite the long-running economic and social crisis, Greece is implementing its commitments on how to handle the refugee issue, which are part of the policies introduced by the EU.

However, the same source said, the successful implementation of this policy requires the same pace of implementation from other parties.

As it stated, today, only 0.17% of the agreed relocation program to other European countries has been implemented, while the EU-Turkey agreement has not even started. The same holds true for the readmission agreements for the migrants who do not have the right to request for asylum.

Greece’s position is that, at this stage, Europe can only manage the problem effectively if it remains united in a policy for common solidarity and humanism.
