Greek pro football league games indefinitely postponed

Until measures are implemented

The government has announced the indefinite postponing of the country’s pro football championships. Undersecretary of Sports Stavros Kontonis announced the measures to representatives of football bodies, while he clarified that the leagues games will begin when various anti-hooliganism measures are applied.

After meeting with PM Alexis Tsipras, where he received the latter’s “green light” on taking the decision, the undersecretary met with the competent bodies.

The measure came after a recent spate of violence in the professional leagues, especially during the Panathinaikos-Olympiacos derby on Sunday.
