Greek PM Tsipras visits Kastellorizo

He is scheduled to inaugurate desalination plants

Newsroom April 17 09:04

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will inaugurate the new desalination plant on the island of Kastellorizo, in SE Aegean, on Tuesday.
The new plant will consist of two units capable of desalinating 400 cubic metres of water daily, a volume covering the needs of the local population. “Kastelorizo will become an autonomous island and will not depend on water transportation by boat especially during the summer months,” Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Nektarios Santorinios told ANA-MPA.
Mr. Tsoipras will later travel to Rhodes to attend the 13th Regional Development Conference for the South Aegean, held at the main town’s Rodos Palas hotel.
At 18:00 he is scheduled to meet with ministers attending the conference and local government representatives, before delivering a keynote speech at 19:30.
