Pavlopoulos to bypass meeting of political leaders

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos is considering not convening a meeting of political leaders after another three-day period to form a government given to the head of the newly formed Popular Unity party, Panayiotis Lafazanis, which expires on Thursday.
According to sources, the president will hand a mandate to the chief justice of the Council of State, Vasiliki Thanou, to form a caretaker government that will lead the country to snap elections.
The date that will most probably be selected for the next election is Sept. 20.
