Referendum culminates in ‘No’ fiesta at Athens Center (Pics)

61% support for NO!

Newsroom July 5 09:58

Supporters of the ‘No’ campaign started to celebrate – with passion and gusto – in Athens as the early count showed a decided victory for anti-austerity.  Yelling out anti-opposition slogans and dancing and singing for their victory as tourists looked on in wonderment, as ‘no’ supporters gathered in droves at Syntagma and Klafthmonos squares.

Chants are now ringing! Five months after SYRIZA’s victory at the January 25 elections, people now believe that they can achieve a decisive network…finally!

From early in the morning, microphone installations and giant screens were placed everywhere.
