Gul to attend 40th anniversary ‘celebrations’ of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus

While the Greek Cypriots mourn, Turkish Cypriots are planning festivities for the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Invasion.

The President of Turkey Abdullah Gul has arrived in the occupied part if Cyprus in order to attend the 40th anniversary ‘celebrations’ of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

The Turkish President met with Turkish Cypriot president Derviş Eroğlu and he also plans to visit the headquarters of the Turkish occupation forces, and the tomb of Rauf Denktash.

Mr Gul will attend the so-called 40th anniversary ‘celebrations’ of 20th of July 1974 Turkish military operation, codenamed ‘Attila’ that have already begun in the occupied part of Cyprus.

The festivities organized by Turkish Cypriots include a “bike tour for peace”, an initiative of the so-called foreign minister of the pseudostate Ozdil Nami and several concerts and sport tournaments.
