The owner of the Greek restaurant ‘Orfeas’, Vassilis Mechaliotis, which is located very close to the site of the attack talked to protothema.gr about the moment of the attack and what happened afterwards.
He said that people were terrified and many journalists rushed to the site to cover the attack, while police blocked the entire area to examine the scene.
Mechaliotis told protothema.gr: “Early in the morning, around 05:00 Munich time, I heard people screaming and a helicopter flying over the area. I realized that something bad had happened. I live above our restaurant and saw what happened”.
“The area is always crowded because people wake up early in the morning and use public transport to go to work” he added.
The terrorist attack occurred at a train station in Grafing, near Munich, on Tuesday morning leaving one dead and three wounded.
Witnesses said the assailant, a 27-year-old man, shouted “Allahu Akbar”. However, the regional ministry said there was no evidence yet of an Islamist motive in the attack.
It said the suspect, who has been arrested, had mental and drug problems.
