Inflow of refugees, irregular migrants rising exponentially

Immigration Commissioner says 445mln Euros ready to help Greece

The inflow of refugees and irregular immigrants into Greece continues to rise, as 4,000 more arrived on the island of Lesvos on Saturday in 100 inflatable craft!

The situation on the island is becoming increasingly dire, as locals watch their island turning into an ‘open-air camp’ for refugees and third country nationals.

Conditions are tragic, with refugee families, elderly, children and women sleeping in makeshift tents or on the ground in the port, the squares, central streets, on footpaths.

The citizens of Lesvos are angry at Mayor Spiros Galinos, accusing him of watching idly and taking no action.

Another 2,488 peopled reached Greece’s main port, Piraeus, Saturday with ferry ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’, which has been commissioned to transport refugees from the Aegean islands to Athens, after they are processed and identified at the island of entry.

Meanwhile, EC Migration and Home Affairs Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said the Commission was ready to release 445mln Euros in aid to Greece for the migration crisis, provided the country honor what has been agreed on the matter.
