“If we establish proportional representation, the country will never be governed,” Minister of Interior Panagiotis Kouroumblis told SKAI TV channel on Monday, while he confirmed all the changes in the election system planned by the government, such as the voting age at 17 and reducing the bonus of 30 seats.
He also stated that he hopes other parties will vote for these changes so as they can be applied in the next election to take place in 2019, as he mentioned.
Mr. Kouroumblis ruled out any possibility of early elections saying that “The elections will take place in March 2019” adding: “Any political instability now would be an “accident” for the country. We need political stability.”
