The meaning of “big” takes on a whole new dimension when we are talking about China.
A medium sized province could have a population of tens of millions. We all remember the unbelievable scale of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.
“Big” in China means really BIG! It should come as no surprise then that the country’s largest swimming pool can hold up to 10,000 people! The ‘Dead Sea of China’ is a saltwater pool located in Daying county, Sichuan province, in the south of China. The pool covers an area of 30,000 square feet. If the pictures make you a little nauseous, they should, because according to China’s Health Ministry statistics, 10 percent of public pools in China exceed the safety limit for urea levels. Yes, you guessed it, ‘urea’ means urine… So I think a small secluded beach somewhere in the Aegean or Ionian would be a better way to enjoy your water sports.
