August 1: Mario Frangoulis “Athens – Buenos Aires” at the 10th International Music Festival of Aegina.

On Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 21:00, the 10th International Music Festival of Aegina kicks off with tenor Mario Frangoulis in a big concert of dreams, journeys, and erotic passion. He will be accompanied by the quinteto TANGartO, an ensemble that has already found its place in the musical map for 20 years, giving a genuine Argentinian tango feeling.

August 5: George Zervos “Elvis”

George Zervos, founding member and side performer of the band Penny & The Swingin ‘Cats, presents a unique tribute to the King of Rock’ n ‘Roll. A musical flashback in the discography of the legendary Elvis, crafted with the personal touch of George Zervos.

August 6: Evanthia Reboutsika “Against all odds”

Her melodies will carry us from the busy streets of Constantinople, the dreamy streets of Paris to a moonlit night in the desert. The audience will have the opportunity to listen to music of award-winning soundtracks, compositions and orchestral music from her projects and theater production works.

August 8: Asian Melodies by Taiwan Chorus

Asian melodies by Taiwan Chorus will fill the Catholic Parish of Saint John the Baptist in Paleo Psychiko. One of the most famous choirs in Taiwan, the “Taiwan Chorus in Kaohsiung City” will visit Athens for a unique performance on August 8, at 18.00, at the Catholic Parish of Saint John the Baptist in Paleo Psychico. The group will present a selection of works by renowned composers, including Huang You-di, Hsiao Tai-ran, Lin Fu-yu, Wu Bo-ming and other distinguished vocal, choral works of Taiwan’s folk music, through group ensemble and solo interpretation.

August 19: China Philharmonic Orchestra “Silk Road” tour

The Philharmonic Orchestra of China continues its journey into the “silk road” with a unique concert at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Irodion). On Wednesday, August 19, the internationally acclaimed orchestra, with Long Yu at the podium, promises to offer a magical evening interpreting the “Polovtsian Dances” from the opera “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin.

Friday, August 28, 2015 at Panormou Square (Metro Station Exit) , Tribute to rebetiko from Smyrna, traditional folk and island music

Saturday, August 29, 2015,  Kolonos Open Theatre “Life …. without frontiers “, the accordion soloist and composer Zoe Tiganouria with her five member orchestra and the singer Thanos Polydoras in a performance “without borders” under the light of the August full moon, with music from around the world, traditional Greek songs and her own compositions.

Monday, August 31, 2015, Open basketball court at Strefi Hill, Tribute to the composer Stavros Xarchakos from the Municipal Athenian Estudiantina

All performances of “Summer in Athens” are starting at 9:00pm and the entrance is free

August 21 – 22, August 24 – 25: Nights of Classical Music at the Gennadius Library

On August 21-22 and 24-25, the Schwarz Foundation in collaboration with the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies organize the festival Nights of Classical Music at the Gennadius Library, hosting important musicians of the famous Curtis Institute of Music, who will perform musical masterpieces. These high quality concerts will be hosted in Cotsen Hall, the auditorium of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, in one of the most wonderful Athenian gardens.
