Uncertainty on whether Greece will receive the 2 bln tranche

The evaluation might be postponed until December

Newsroom October 17 02:32

The omnibus bill which includes the austerity measures agreed with Greece’s creditors was voted during yesterday’s plenary session.

But, now the Finance Ministry must hurry up to implement the 49 prior actions in order to avoid further delays, since according to Kathimerini newspaper, many problems and delays have been recorded on the circulars and ministerial decisions that have to be issued.

Without the ministerial decisions the list of the first prior actions cannot be implemented and without the implementation of the list Greece’s creditors will not disburse the tranche of 2 billion euros.

The evaluation might be postponed until December due to this delay, as German WirtschaftWoche mentions.

According to Kathimerini, the omnibus bill covers only 30% of the measures that should have been implemented, whereas representatives of the lenders have found that ministries have not proceed to issuing the relevant legislation which is needed so as to implement the prior actions.

Based on the existing schedule, the institutions should draft an evaluation report on the implementation of the 49 prior actions until Tuesday, so that Euroworking Group would hold a meeting on Wednesday and, if the report is positive, to give the “green light” for the disbursement of 2 billion euro tranche.
