Decades of unfilled promises to allow Greek citizens, who happen to be permanent overseas residents, the right to cast a ballot in their homeland’s elections again irked many an expatriate on Sunday, as they could only watch and listen to the process – but not vote!

The hashtag #icannotvote on Twitter expressed overseas’ Greeks anger over again being left out.

French nationals outside France can vote at their respective overseas embassies and consulates, for instance, whereas US citizens have the right to write-in voting.
