Workers of the Pakistani community in Greece marched in Thebes protesting against their exploitation by employees. The Pakistani workers marched with members of the Greek Communist party’s (KKE) union PAME and the United Movement against racism and the threat of fascism (KEERFA) demanding equal treatment. The Pakistani community alleges they are working under inhumane conditions of exploitation and are subjected to barbaric treatment by their employers. Chanting slogans like ‘Workers united never defeated’, they demanded rules, regulations, full rights. ‘We are people, workers and we want the worker to be respected[‘, said a Pakistani worker on camera to website ‘Lamiastar.gr’. They made reference to pay of 5 or even 2 Euros a day for 12 hours work, while being packed into pick-up trucks like animals and suffering injuries on their way to work. On Friday 20 Pakistani workers were injured, some suffering broken legs, when a truck capsized while taking them to work.
