Popular Unity candidate says SYRIZA New Democracy exactly the same

Drachma a ‘tool’ to rebuild Greece, he says

One might disagree with his political analysis and views, but it has to be acknowledged that he has been consistent in his opinions all along. In an interview to Greek state TV ERT, Monday, Kostas Lapavistas, member and candidate of the SYRIZA-break away party Popular Unity, ‘warned’ the Greek people to expect ‘monstrous’ political collaborations after the September 20 elections. The hardcore leftist candidate unleashed an attack against his former party SYRIZA accusing it of essentially being the same as conservative main opposition party New Democracy. Responding to a question of who he would prefer to see win the elections he was blunt saying: “Whoever finds the difference between SYRIZA and New Democracy please inform me too”. Commenting on the polls indicating that over 75% of Greeks were against reverting back to the drachma-Popular unity has clarified that part of its agenda involves re-adopting a national currency-he doubted the reliability of the surveys. “In the only ‘poll’ that had any gravity the 62% of the people said ‘No'”, referring to the July 6 referendum. He claimed his party had a national platform to rebuild Greece, something that could only be achieved with a national currency.
