The traffic police had to stop the buses carrying refugees and migrants that are heading to Idomeni at Tempi Valley due to the roadblocks set by the farmers, who are protesting against the social security and tax system reforms.
The migrants and refugees got of the buses and are waiting on the road along with the farmers.
A similar situation is recorded in many parts of the Greek road network along Athens-Idomeni route, since the traffic police stopped the buses carrying migrants and refugees at parking lots or other places, and with FYROM’s border closed it is still unknown when they will be able to continue their journey.
Therefore, gas stations, parking lots and municipal places have been turned into refugee and migrant centers, which are unsuitable to host people.
In Kalabaka, more than 400 refugees, mostly from Syria, are waiting in a parking lot, while in Kozani, about 400 refugees heading also to Idomeni are hosted in a basketball court in Likovrisis.
