Refugees saved in Aegean to be sent to Greece, says Spiegel magazine

German spokesperson Zeibert made it clear on Friday

According to German magazine ‘De Spiegel’, the two German coastguard boats, ‘Uckermark’ and ‘Borde’ taking part in Frontex joint patrol operations in the Aegean have explicit orders to turn any refugees collected over to Greek authorities. Sources told the German magazine that German politicians raised legal concerns regarding the implications of sending refugees en masse back to Turkey, as this would constitute a breach of EU laws associated with the right to seek asylum. It should be noted that the German spokesperson Stefen Zeibert said Friday that immigrants would not be readmitted to Turkey before the EU-Turkey agreement had been signed.
