Shades of “southern European” urban protests took place on Wednesday in the heart of Frankfurt, as thousands of mostly anti-austeriy, anti-capitalist demonstrators turned out to protest the opening of a new headquarters for the European Central Bank (ECB) in the German metropolis.
According to the BBC, dozens of people were hurt and some 350 people arrested as protesters clashed with riot police.
