RyanAir: Greece among the countries with personnel shortages that lead to flight delays

The company says shortages in air traffic controllers resulted in delays and cancellations

Due to the ongoing strikes by its pilots and the shortages in air traffic controllers in European countries, including Greece, Ryanair is facing one of its worst seasons with flight cancellations for hundreds of thousands of travellers across Europe.

According to the company, last Friday 27 July, “the shortages in Air Traffic Controllers’ staff in France, Germany and Greece resulted in delays of 61 (14%) out of the 441 total flights that left in the morning hours,

On Tuesday 24 July, shortages at airports in Greece, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom were the cause of delays in over 390 (17%) of all 2,634 flights on that day. The company has publicly called on governments and the EU to take steps to eliminate the inconvenience for European travellers.
