Samos refugee hotspot up in flames

Violent clashes erupt between refugees and migrants

Newsroom June 2 10:32

The refugee hotspot on the island of Samos has been totally destroyed by the hosted migrants and refugees. The facilities were turned into a battle field earlier when violent clashes broke out between Afghanis, Syrians and Pakistanis. According to information, 30 people have been injured, with the ones in more serious condition being transported to the local hospital.

The lives of families hosted in the hotspot were endangered when a part of the center went up in flames. Greek anti-riot units were called in before the situation escalated even more, and managed to restore order, allowing the fire brigade to extinguish the fire. The reasons of the violent outbreak are unclear.
