Schauble: Govt must tell people that Greece's problems not caused by Brussels, Berlin!

"Eurozone was probably a temptation", he underlines

Newsroom March 13 09:16

In an interview to Austrian newspaper “Der Standard”, German FinMin Wolfgang Schauble reiterated that the Greek government must explain to its citizens that the country’s problems are not Brussels or Berlin’s fault.

“Those responsible must come clean”, was he characteristic statement, while adding: “Greece has been over its fiscal quota for a considerable amount of time”.

Among others, the German minister clarified that the issue of German reparations is over, and stressed once again that he did not insult his Greek counterpart Yanis Varoufakis after the Ecofin meeting, blaming the issue on a translation provided by the Greek media.
